I’ve played this game for over 3 years now. Here is my review: Short hand - it’s a money hungry machine that has passed its prime and doesn’t know it’s future. Long hand - this game IS fun but it’s reached its max and potential; honestly about a year ago around the time they introduced galactic legends. Galactic legend characters require a set of story related toons to be a specific relic level even though their in game viability is limited and or just weak. The requirement of such toons means you have to use hard to farm or rare shards and gear to level up so you can obtain what some consider “end game” characters. The problem with all this is that the developers have created a “pay to play” area where if you spend hundreds (yes you read that right $100s) you can stay up to date. For instance; a newer toon was released by the name of “The Mandolorian (beskar armor), that requires newer releases characters to be fully 7* (currently the highest level of stars available), and you normally could do this by farming; however until recently - one of the characters Kuiil, was not farmable. (BTW most serious gear pieces needed to progress to relic 5 and beyond is weekly and or monthly farms. Yes. It’ll take at least a month for you to progress one single character based on their rarity algorithms.... of course you could always PAY for them....) The only way to obtain the shards necessary to get him to 7* before the ability to farm him is to pay for his shards! If you did this it would have cost you upwards of $350 USD!! Why is this significant? Well; in another “new” area of SWGOH, they have what’s called ‘galactic challenges’. It’s supposed to be an area where you can get more gear and help level up some characters across the board; but then why is it in order to achieve a complete clear and get the highest and most rewards it requires to have the mandalorian (beskar armor) to have fully 7*? You can not have him at full 7* unless you PAID for the Kuiil shards because they were unfarmable at the time. So you need to BUY characters during their pre release so you can stay up to date; and also USE those new characters to get OLD gear!? Do you see how this is just a money hungry machine only after your money? They unfortunately built a system that feeds upon itself and demands your attention. You gladly give it because you have invested a set amount of time hoping for a pay off but it won’t ever come. I promise you. I have been playing for over 3 years and I am still waiting to be satisfied with this game. Every turn. Every new toon. Every new raid and or territory war or battle I was hoping to love this game more but I didn’t. It became monotonous and for what? In the end; for nothing. If you do end up playing keep your wallet closed and your credit card off the table. You will be tempted to spend the money. “Oh it’s just $100 for the hyperdrive bundle.” Go for it; the second you press buy you will hear a little voice that glides effortlessly from one hear to the next - “What a waste....”

Ever since I downloaded the new client (conquest update 2/24/21) my app crashes in almost every battle I attempt (arena, territory war, territory battles). This has never happened on my iPhone 7 before.

Honestly an amazing game, though I wish that they didn’t ban people for criticism. I’ve played since November, and as of yesterday rose up to level 81, at level 25 you can join a guild, up to 50 people from around the world. I would recommend starting with a Separatist or Phoenix faction, I chose first order, which was a hard grind. An easy way to get good in the game is to buy the hyper drive bundle, but if your anything like me, who enjoys the grind, this is a game for you.

I’m a FTP player, it’s taken a long time to get somewhat competitive. Though I do play this at least once a day if not more. It’s such a great game and has so many of the characters I love.

Game is paid to win to a degree. Still really fun reguardless and easily obtainable to compete with top players without having to pay. This will take more time of course but it doesn't change anything in terms of gameplay.
